About the project:

This project consists of three elements - art glass over the entire entry facade, suspended foyer art and integrated etched glass for interior spaces. The art explores the importance of community and connection, reflecting the character of place and the importance of the Yagoona Community Centre as a meeting place and symbol of inclusiveness.

The art is inspired by nature and highlights the valuable local landscape, drawing inspiration from the rare and significant plant the Downy Wattle, located near the site.

The design form of the Downy Wattle connects to the concept of inclusiveness. Every individual flower is connected together to form a common structure.

This concept is a metaphor for the connectedness and inclusiveness of the Yagoona community.
